BIC stage set for record-breaking weekend in totally sold-out F1 Gulf Air Bahrain GP 2023

Manama, March 3 (BNA): The arena is preparing for a record-breaking race weekend at the Bahrain International Circuit, as the highly anticipated and sold-out 2023 Formula 1-Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix lights up the Sakhir desert.

The global spotlight will be on the Kingdom of Bahrain as top motorsports stars take to the 5,412km Bahrain International Circuit track on Friday (Editor’s note: March 3) for the first time in the 2023 FIA F1 World Championship, which kicks off an action-packed weekend in the ” The home of motorsports in the Middle East.”

The Bahrain International Center (BIC) will open its doors to the public from 9am on Friday, just in time for the first on-track sessions of the day.

A pair of hour-long F1 exercises will be at the top of the programme. The first will take place under daytime conditions at 2.30pm. This will be followed by a second at night under the modern floodlights of the Bahrain Information Center from 6pm onwards.

All 10 F1 teams will put their rivals through their paces in order to prepare them for Saturday’s all-important qualifying session, which will determine the grid for Sunday’s main event: the 57-lap, light-lit Bahrain Grand Prix. The third practice will be on the Saturday before the playoffs.

F1 is set to join the track this weekend with the FIA ​​Formula 2 Championship, FIA Formula 3 Championship and Porsche Sprint Challenge Middle East. F2 and F3 both hold their season-opening rounds in Bahrain, while the Porsche Sprint Challenge will stage the penultimate meeting of the 2022/2023 campaign.

The three support series will also take to the tarmac on Friday for practice and qualifying. Porsche Sprint Challenge ME will be the first out on the track at 9.45am for its first practice. A second session will take place later in the night at 8.25pm.

F3 kicks off the 2023 season with practice at 10.55am, then the field returns to qualifying at 4pm. F2 will take place at 12.05pm while Qualifying will take place at 7.30pm under completely different weather conditions.

There will also be plenty to enjoy off the track on Friday at BIC’s Sale Precinct, located just behind the main stand. A wide range of colorful family entertainment will be available to keep everyone entertained.

These include touring acts and musicians from around the world, children’s attractions including stage performances of classic tales, a giant ferris wheel, The Beast inflatable obstacle course, a spooky haunted house and an F1 Fanzone with all kinds of F1 related activities including sports e.

Set to highlight Friday’s entertainment program is the first concert of the weekend featuring DJ Snake artists.

DJ Snake will be performing live from 9:30pm and all F1 ticket holders will be able to enjoy his show at no extra cost.

DJ Snake is a multi-platinum selling DJ and producer who epitomizes the concept of global dance music and has worked with the music industry’s biggest stars.
