Bayern Munich winless in 2023 and searching for answers

Berlin, January 30 (BNA): Bayern Munich have not won a match so far this year. The Bavarian power saw its lead in the Bundesliga reduced from four points before the World Cup to just one point since the return of the league.

Three draws in three matches, all 1-1 with Leipzig, Cologne and then Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday, prompted another round of contemplation and increased the pressure on coach Julian Nagelsmann ahead of the crucial stage of the season.

Bayern will visit Mainz in the third round of the German Cup, Wednesday, two weeks before the team’s trip to Paris Saint-Germain for the first leg of the Champions League knockout match, the Associated Press reports.

Although no further signings were expected in the winter season, Bayern were reportedly close on Monday to securing a surprise loan deal for Portuguese left-back Joao Cancelo from Manchester City. It would give Bayern more security in defense and an additional attacking threat on the left.

This is not the first time that Bayern have fallen behind this season, as the 10-time champions went four matches in the German League without a win in September, but this time there is no room for error and less time to correct it.
