Bahrain’s strides in protecting child rights highlighted at IPU Assembly

Bali, March 23 (BNA) The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Deputy Abdul Nabi Salman, affirmed that the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has positively contributed to the development of childhood conditions. In Bahrain and the consolidation of child protection through a developed national legislative system, which highlights Bahrain’s continued support for all efforts aimed at protecting children’s rights.


Processing 144y The Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which is currently hosted by Indonesia, said that the House of Representatives contributed to the issuance of several laws and legislation related to children’s rights, through its Committee on Women and Children’s Affairs.


He added that the Law on Restorative Justice for Children and their Protection from Abuse, which entered into force last August, represents a pioneering step in the justice system and the protection of children’s rights in the Kingdom, as well as a new success story that adds to the ongoing development and human rights process in Bahrain.


It also supports the modern criminal legislation in the Kingdom, as it gives the highest priority to the best interests of the child in all judgments, decisions and procedures related to it, adding that the Kingdom has established child restorative justice courts. And activating the role of the Child Protection Center in the Ministry of Labor and Social Development.


The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives also highlighted the efforts made by the House of Representatives, led by House Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, to support Bahraini youth and motivate them to actively participate and engage in national action, noting that the House launched the second version of the Bahraini House of Representatives program. Bahrain Youth Parliament in implementation of the visions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa regarding support and empowerment of youth, enhancing their role in all areas of national action, increasing their political awareness, democratic work and strengthening parliamentary culture.
