Manama, Feb. 28 (BNA): Bahrain is implementing various projects to support the victims of the earthquakes that struck Turkey and Syria, thanks to the kind gesture of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Secretary-General of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF) and Chairman of the National Committee to Support Earthquake Victims in Syria and Turkey Dr. Mustafa Al-Sayed highlighted Bahrain’s humanitarian commitment during a press conference held at the offices of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation on Tuesday.


The recent announcement of the relief efforts in Syria comes within the framework of the royal gesture from His Majesty the King and the relief efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain, led by His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. said Dr. El-Sayed.


The conference was also addressed by members of the National Committee for Supporting Earthquake Victims in Syria and Turkey, including the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Walid Al-Manea, the President of the Bahraini Medical Society, Dr. Amer Al-Derazi, and the President of the Bahrain Red Crescent Society, Mohammed. Ibrahim.


During our stay in Syria, we met government officials, members of the public, and organizations working on the ground in the earthquake-affected areas. Members of the public greeted the delegation on the streets as they watched Bahrain’s aid reach Syria via its national television broadcast.
The discussions focused on the first relief shipment delivered by Bahrain to Syria, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, within the framework of the humanitarian response to face the repercussions and damages of the earthquake that struck Syria. newly.


Dr. Al-Sayed said that Bahrain will remain a front country in helping the Syrian and Turkish brothers and sisters in line with the directives of His Majesty the King and with the support of the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince. Prime Minister led by His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Rashid Al Maktoum.


“His Majesty the King’s phone call to the Syrian President to offer condolences following the earthquake has lifted the spirits of the people and the King Hussein Cancer Foundation will continue to work closely with the Syrian authorities in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Syria.”


Speaking about the goals of the visit, he said that it was very useful to collect first-hand information about the damage caused by the earthquake and identify urgent needs as well as discuss the possibility of providing a helping hand in various aspects of life, especially in the relief and humanitarian work sectors.


“Syria’s national health services are in tatters, and any help would make a huge difference to the Syrian people at this point,” said Dr. Al-Sayed.
