New York, April 29 / BNA /: Bahrain has invested 3.3 billion Bahraini dinars in financing social housing projects since the establishment of the Ministry of Housing.
The Minister of Housing, Basem bin Yaqoub Al-Hamar, said that the partnership between the public and private sectors is expected to further enhance housing projects in the coming years.
He was addressing the United Nations High Level Meeting on Implementing the Urban Agenda in New York, which also discussed the 2030 social development goals.
He referred to His Majesty King Hamad’s royal directives to build 40,000 housing units, stressing the government’s efforts, headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to build new cities and housing complexes across the country. .
Al-Hamar stressed the importance of the partnership between the public and private sectors in increasing support for the government’s plans and programmes.
He referred to the government’s initiative to launch a stimulus package worth 4.5 billion dinars to support the national economy amid efforts to mitigate the challenges caused by the outbreak of the new Corona virus (Covid-19).
