Bahrain welcomes short-term ceasefire agreement and humanitarian arrangements in Sudan


Manama, May 21 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain welcomed the signing of a short-term ceasefire agreement and humanitarian arrangements between representatives of the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces in the Republic of Sudan.

The agreement was signed in Jeddah and facilitated by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted the appreciation of the Kingdom of Bahrain for the Saudi and American efforts to sign this agreement within the framework of ensuring calm, a cease-fire and facilitating the provision of humanitarian and relief aid and basic services in Sudan in accordance with the principles of international humanitarian law that were mentioned in the Jeddah Declaration of Commitment to Protect Civilians.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes that the agreement will constitute a pivotal step on the road to a permanent cessation of armed conflict and a comprehensive peace settlement through the participation of all parties in a comprehensive national dialogue that meets the aspirations of the brotherly Sudanese people to achieve security. Peace and prosperity.
