Bahrain Science Centre for SDGs wins ‘Catalyst 2030’ Award

Manama, June 25 (BNA) The Bahrain Science Center for Sustainable Development Goals at the Ministry of Youth and Sports has won the Catalyst 2030 Award for Systematic Change 2022.

BSC’s Gaia initiative won the award in the category of Governments Supporting Social Entrepreneurship as a Means of Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, Sarah Ishaq, received the award during the electronic ceremony held by “Catalyst 2030”.

The prominent participants in the electronic ceremony praised the “Gaya” initiative and its role in promoting entrepreneurship and creating solutions that contribute to achieving sustainable development goals.

Catalyst 2030 launched the award to motivate organizations and institutions to present leading global initiatives that contribute to achieving positive change in their countries and accelerating the development of ideas into collaborative systems and solutions.

The “Gaya” initiative is a system of social entrepreneurship and innovation that supports the social innovation community in the Kingdom and spreads a culture of cooperation between society and local actors from all public and private sectors to contribute to achieving sustainable development goals and enhancing community participation.

The initiative brings together social entrepreneurs, innovators, scientists, academics and change makers who all share one goal: to create an inclusive and sustainable entrepreneurial community that drives social and environmental solutions that benefit all communities in the Kingdom.

The Bahrain Science Center for Sustainable Development Goals launched a number of initiatives and programs within the framework of the “Gaya” system related to social innovation with the aim of raising awareness, building a culture of social entrepreneurship and stimulating innovation in the Kingdom.
