Bahrain qualifies for Arabian Gulf 25 semifinals, to face Oman on Monday

Basra, Jan. 13 (BNA): Bahrain qualified for the 25th Gulf Cup semi-finals after a 1-1 draw with Kuwait in the last Group B match.

Bahrain, with 7 points from two victories over the United Arab Emirates and Qatar and a draw against Kuwait, topped the group and will play on Monday in the final match against Oman, which came second in Group A.

In the other semi-final, Iraq, the leaders of Group A, will face Qatar, which qualified for second place in Group B with four points, after a last-minute draw with the UAE.

In front of Kuwait, Bahrain presented another outstanding performance, although its attackers missed several opportunities to score and win the match.

Mahdi Humaidan scored Bahrain’s goal in the middle of the first half, ensuring that the national team would score in all three group matches.

Kuwait scored the equalizer in the last minute of the first half through Shabib Al-Khalidi, who took advantage of the hesitation in the Bahraini defense.

Bahrain dominated the last 15 minutes of the match, but the players were unable to put the ball into the Kuwaiti net.

And the battles of the Persian Gulf, Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen, began on January 6.

Bahrain is the current champion after winning the cup in Qatar in 2019.
