Bahrain Public Prosecution’s action in confronting Covid-19 pandemic highlighted in Tbilisi

Tbilisi, October 2, (BNA) Attorney General Dr. Ali bin Fadl Al-Buainain participated in the annual meeting of the International Association of Public Prosecutors (IAP) in the Georgian capital, Tbilisi.

Al Buainain reviewed the Public Prosecution’s experience in facing the Covid-19 pandemic and the measures it took to overcome any potential obstacles resulting from the difficult circumstances, based on the necessity of continuing justice procedures that guarantee stability and social security.

The experience included expanding the use of the procedural powers provided by law to the Public Prosecution, which would enable it to carry out its tasks in the investigation and file cases before the courts without interruption.

It also distinguished the complete digital transformation of work and the increase in effective and rapid communication to enable the parties to the case to submit and complete their requests remotely without the need to go to the Public Prosecution.

He pointed out that the investigation and trial were conducted remotely, and online communication options were provided to receive and implement the requests of the concerned authorities submitted by the legislative and information technology authority in the Kingdom before the outbreak of the epidemic.

He also referred to the expansion of the application of the Penal Code and alternative measures as a contribution to the efforts of the Kingdom’s institutions to confront the epidemic and limit its effects.

Al-Buainain met with the Attorney General of Georgia, public representatives and prosecutors from various countries to discuss issues related to judicial cooperation and enhancing the capabilities and services of the Public Prosecution Office.
