Manama, June 10 (BNA) A delegation representing the Ministry of Education held a webinar with United Nations officials and discussed aspects of joint cooperation to support Bahrain’s efforts, ahead of the Education Summit 2022.
The delegation of the Ministry was headed by Dr. Samah Al-Ajjawi, Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Policies and Learning, and the National Coordinator in charge of National Consultations, Dr. Samah Al-Ajjawi, in preparation for the next summit.
The webinar was also attended by officials representing the United Nations and its agencies, including UNESCO, UNICEF, UNIDO and the International Labor Organization.
The national consultations scheduled for this month, which represent the first step, will be followed by a preparatory meeting in June 2022, ahead of the Transformative Education Summit, scheduled for September in New York, USA.
United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres directed to harness efforts and intensify solidarity to explore concrete solutions to offset educational waste caused by the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic, and reimagine the future of education, to achieve the relevant sustainable development goals. education by 2030.
National Consulting in Bahrain mainly focuses on four main components which are as follows:
Ensure that the impact of the disruption to education caused by the COVID-19 pandemic is completely overcome.
-Identify the major strategic shifts and levers applied to reimagine education for the twenty-first century.
– accelerating progress towards the goals of joint education, reviewing national goals and standards for education,
Ensure enhanced and sustainable public financing for education; In addition to addressing the results and expected outputs of these consultations.
It was emphasized that such consultations should include ministries responsible for education and lifelong learning, youth and gender equality, health, labour, environment, trade, finance, planning and communication, and UNESCO-affiliated schools.
Youth-focused NGOs, civil society institutions such as unions, parliamentarians, the private sector, universities and research institutes, experts and local donor groups for education, as well as national councils, youth, teachers and parents, among others, will also be included.
