Bahrain marks International Day for Older Persons

Manama, September 30 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain joins the world on October 1 of each year to celebrate the International Day for Older Persons, which was approved by the United Nations General Secretariat in 1990.

The United Nations has chosen “Olderly Resilience in a Changing World” as a celebration this year in order to highlight the ability of older women to address environmental, social and economic challenges and raise awareness of their contributions to society.

The Ministry of Social Development confirmed the leading position of the Kingdom of Bahrain at the Arab, regional and international levels in its strategic vision with regard to services provided to the elderly. He stressed that this is in line with the provisions of the Constitution and the developments taking place in the Kingdom within the framework of a legislative and legal system that supports the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with the support of His Royal Highness. Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
