Bahrain bourse participates in IOSCO 2021 World Investor Week

Manama, October 11 (BNA): Bahrain Bourse (BHB), a self-regulating multi-asset market and affiliated member of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), participated in the 5th Annual Global Investor Week (WIW). .

In parallel with IOSCO WIW, BHB has participated in the annual ‘Ring the Bell for Financial Literacy’ initiative launched by the World Federation of Exchanges to join 78 other global stock exchanges holding ceremonies, seminars, workshops and events to raise awareness of the importance of financial literacy. .

The initiative included the production of a series of awareness videos featuring 17 key participants from various listed companies and educational institutions as well as other key stakeholders to highlight and showcase Bahrain Bourse’s awareness programs. In addition, the Bahrain Bourse held a series of virtual workshops in partnership with several financial institutions and universities to introduce students to the capital market and Bahrain Bourse, where more than 2,300 workshops attended.

“It is with great pleasure that we participate in Global Investor Week which promotes investor education on a global level. “We strongly believe in the importance of promoting and facilitating investor education and awareness as one of our main strategic pillars,” said Sheikh Khalifa bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, CEO of Bahrain Bourse.

He added, “Over the years, the Bahrain Bourse has focused its efforts on financial education and investor awareness through several programs and initiatives, including the TradeQuest Program, the Smart Investor, the Investment Academy, and the Capital Markets Professional Training Program.”

“We believe in building a generation of investors well equipped with knowledge and understanding of the financial markets to guide them in effective financial planning,” Sheikh Khalifa said.

WIW is a week-long global campaign launched by IOSCO to raise awareness of the importance of investor education and protection, as well as to highlight the various efforts of securities regulators in these two key areas. For the third year in a row, IOSCO and WFE are collaborating on an initiative to support WIW called “Ring the Bell for Financial Literacy.”
