Cairo, October 14 (BNA) The Kingdom of Bahrain participated in the work of the thirty-second session of the Council of Arab Ministers in charge of Environmental Affairs, which was held today at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, coinciding with the celebration of the anniversary of the thirty-second session of the Council of Ministers in charge of Environmental Affairs. The session was chaired by Hisham bin Muhammad Al-Jowder, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Arab Republic of Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States.

The council discussed a number of important topics on its agenda, including draft decisions prepared by the Executive Office related to a number of environmental issues, such as how Arabs deal with climate change issues.

They also reviewed the preparations for the twenty-sixth session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, to be held at the end of this month in Glasgow, United Kingdom.

The meeting followed up on issues of the environmental dimension with regard to sustainable development goals and the Arab position in all environmental agreements related to desertification and biodiversity.

The council also discussed reports on the environmental situation in Palestine, the occupied Syrian Arab Golan, Sudan, Somalia, Comoros, Djibouti, Libya, Yemen and the neighboring countries of Syria (Jordan – Lebanon), in addition to the framework strategy for solid waste management. in the Arab region.

The Council approved the proposed topic for the work of its thirty-third session, as well as the award of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for Environmental Affairs, choosing the Arab capital for the environment, to confront the effects of climate change, and the impact of plastic. Waste on the marine environment, green recovery after the corona epidemic.
