Manama, June 1 (BNA) Member of the Baha’i Social Society Jalal Khalil said that the European Union-Bahrain conference “Expanding the Tent: Freedom of Religion and Belief” is an opportunity for the European delegation to learn about Bahrain’s experience in coexistence and tolerance among all sects and religions.
He said that the Kingdom has been distinguished since antiquity by its openness to human, intellectual and social diversity, and its harmony among its inhabitants, regardless of their different beliefs and origins.
Khalil added that thanks to these principles, all residents of Bahrain enjoy religious freedom, which includes the practice of religious rites and social rights without discrimination.
He pointed out that the Baha’is presented during the conference their experience in social and practical life and their contribution to community service along with all segments of society.
He stressed that His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s approach and sponsorship of the conference stem from a wise vision that believes in the importance of diversity among human beings as a blessing to enhance acquaintance and human interdependence.
He stressed that this approach was confirmed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister on numerous occasions.
