It is important to note that the new JBOS system is now fully managed by the Ministry of Justice and has replaced the previous account suspension and cancellation system, known as BUB, which was previously administered by the Central Bank of Bahrain.

Dr. Waheed Al Qassim, Chief Executive Officer of the Bahrain Association of Banks, highlighted the association’s role as an effective mediator between the ministry and the banking sector during the testing period of the new system, ensuring that the requirements of all parties are met. He stated that the system is expected to develop gradually for the benefit of all, taking into account all proposals to ensure that all provisions are implemented smoothly while preserving the rights of individuals and banks.
Amal Saif, Head of the Islamic Banks Committee at the Bahrain Association of Banks, explained that the new system requires banks to respond daily to judicial requests related to funds and their collection in bank accounts. As a result, written electronic judicial letters are no longer issued to banks requesting the amounts to be collected.
She emphasized that the new system replaces electronic letters that were previously sent by courts directly to banks to transfer funds. The system provides information on the amounts that must remain in the accounts of individuals, and it automatically sends an order to cancel the hold on the amount and debit the bank account of the individual immediately after the bank responds to the court order.
