Alba’s green initiatives make impact, 12,000 trees planted since 2021, 125 kg of food and organic waste treated daily

Manama, Feb. 8/BNA/ Aluminum Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) to announce that it has planted more than 12,000 trees since 2021 in various locations inside and outside the company’s premises, in line with the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to double tree coverage by 2035.

And in celebration of Bahrain’s National Environment Day (celebrated annually on February 4), Ali Al Baqali, CEO of Alba, joined the CEO of Nasser Vocational Training Center (NVTC) Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Al Nuaimi to plant seedlings along the roads surrounding the NVTC in the jaw area. Commenting on the occasion, Alba’s CEO Ali Al Baqali said:
“It is our collective and individual responsibility to preserve and take care of the environment, and this goal is at the top of Alba’s environmental, social and corporate governance priorities.
Planting trees is one of the ways we support Bahrain’s national afforestation plan and country-wide campaigns such as ‘Forever Green’ as well as achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13 – Climate Action, which encourages everyone to take urgent action in order to combat climate change and its impacts. “.

The CEO of Nasser Vocational Training Center (NVTC), Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Al Nuaimi, added:
“We commend Alba’s leadership in taking the lead in social responsibility initiatives and increasing the green cover of Bahrain, including the afforestation of the area surrounding the NVTC. We also thank Alba for its efforts in consolidating the principles of sustainable development and ensuring a healthy and safe environment for all.”
In addition, the company recently commissioned a “composting of food waste” in line with its goal of addressing SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production. This composter has the capacity to process around 125 kg of food waste per day and produce nutrient-rich compost within 24 hours.
