Al Hilal book Club World Cup semi-final against Flamengo

Rabat, Feb. 4 (BNA): Al-Hilal, the Asian champions, scored a late goal to take the Club World Cup match against Wydad Casablanca to extra time, where the match ended 1-1 before winning on penalties on Saturday.

The Saudi national team won a penalty shootout 5-3 to secure its berth in the semi-finals against Brazilian Flamengo, reports Reuters.

Musab Al-Juwair converted the winning penalty kick after Moroccan full-back Yahya Atiyat Allah missed the first penalty kick for the African champion.

Morocco’s Wydad, who was aided by its partisan fans, took the lead early in the second half through Ayoub El Amloud but missed a penalty kick four minutes into stoppage time at the end of the 90th minute to allow Mohamed Kanou to equalise.

Wydad captain Yahya Gebran was sent off for a second bookable offense at the same time, although Kanu was shown a red card four minutes into extra time as both teams were reduced to 10 men.

Al-Hilal and Flamengo will meet on Tuesday in Tangier with Real Madrid against Al-Ahly of Egypt or the American Seattle Sounders in Rabat in the second semi-final match on Wednesday.
