Aberdeen sack manager 19 minutes after thrashing

Aberdeen, January 29 (BNA): It took Scottish Premier League club Aberdeen just 19 minutes to sack coach Jim Goodwin after their 6-0 win at Hibernian on Saturday continued the club’s poor form.

Goodwin was sticking to his job after Aberdeen suffered a humiliating cup defeat by Sixth Division Darville on Monday and the latest capitulation proved the final straw, Reuters reports.

The players had not even come out of the dressing room before news broke that Godwin’s tenure was over after just under a year in charge.

In a statement on the club’s website, Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack did not mince his words.

“I met Jim at the end of the game. Jim is a perfectly decent guy. He came up and hugged me and said, ‘Not good enough.’ He gave her everything he could give her, but the simple facts are that the results since returning from the World Cup break have been unacceptable.” Absolutely and the guest team’s form is very bad.

“I feel for the fans too. I am embarrassed, offended and shocked by the events of the past week. This is how our fans feel and I can only apologize to them.”

Aberdeen are seventh in the standings, having conceded 11 goals in their last two league matches.
