Liverpool, May 16 (BUS): Everton missed a chance to secure their place in the Premier League for another season after two players were sent off 3-2 at home to Brentford.
Everton said he was helping police after Brentford’s Rico Henry – who scored the winning goal – and Evan Toney said their family members had been racially abused, the Associated Press reported.
The match turned into a red card in the 18th minute to Jared Branthuite for Toni’s retraction, when Everton were leading 1-0 thanks to a Dominic Calvert-Lewin goal.
However, Everton – who needed a win to ensure survival – snatched back their equalizer in the 37th minute due to an own goal by Seamus Coleman by going forward again when Richarlison scored a penalty in stoppage time in the first half.
Brentford twice in two minutes from the 62nd, through Yuan Wesa and Henry, substitute Salomon Rondon became the second Everton player to receive a red card after shooting himself in Henry’s first in the 88th minute.
Everton remained two points above third place, with two games remaining against Crystal Palace at home on Thursday and Arsenal away next Sunday.
Leeds are one point behind Everton with only one game left against Brentford on the final day, while third-to-last third-placed Burnley still face Aston Villa and Newcastle.

Henry took to social media after the match to call for action.
“I don’t usually talk about things that don’t physically hurt me or my family, but to see my mum upset after being racially abused by a few Everton fans, it sparked a fire in my stomach!” Henry tweeted. “I will do anything for them and whatever it takes to punish the small minority! This is unacceptable and should be investigated immediately.”
After tweeting about the fireworks said to have gone out outside the Brentford team hotel, Tony added: “For the man who racially abused my family, I’m doing everything in my power to get the punishment he deserves!”
Everton responded to Tony’s post with a tweet that read: “There is no place in football – or in society – for racism. We are helping Merseyside Police to make sure the individual is identified and treated appropriately.”
