10,000 Children to be trained on swimming within a year

Manama, July 18 (BNA) The Bahrain Olympic Committee and the Bahrain Swimming Federation signed a cooperation agreement to train 10,000 children and youth within a year.



This comes within the framework of BOC’e’s keenness to adopt various initiatives and programs aimed at improving sports.



The agreement was signed by the Bank’s Secretary-General, Faris Al-Kooheji, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Counselor Dr. Muhammad Mujbil.



Al Kooheji expressed his pride in signing this agreement, noting that this comes in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Chairman of the General Sports Authority. (GSA) and the President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), to adopt various sports programs aimed at developing different sports, particularly the Olympic Games.



“Swimming is one of the main Olympic sports and one of the sports encouraged by Islam, along with archery and horse riding. Children and youth,” he said.



The Secretary-General stressed that training children to swim in the largest number would contribute to discovering a number of talents capable of representing national teams.



He stressed that this program will reduce drowning cases among this age group, noting that this initiative was implemented in France by training 5,000 children in one year.



“We decided to train 10,000 children in Bahrain, and we see this as a challenge that we can achieve,” Al Kooheji said.

He expressed his appreciation to the Bahrain Swimming Federation for their efforts and quick response to implement the initiative.



Mujbil expressed his gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad for his unlimited support to the association, which had the greatest impact in achieving many accomplishments.



He noted the association’s readiness to train all these children, expressing his pride in this fruitful and positive partnership.
